Kenzie and I met in the emergency department where I was a baby scribe and she was a nurse. I still remember seeing her when she was just starting and asking someone who she was, not knowing that she would eventually be my whole world.
The first time we hung out together outside of work, at a baseball game where I was so lost in talking with her that I didn’t even realize the game had ended until someone told me. I felt so lucky to have been able to spend the whole night with her. And I have felt lucky every night since, for every comedy show, board game night, trip to the lake, midnight ice cream run, and for each and every amazing memory I have been able to make with her. I felt like I won the lottery on a windy April day in Rhode Island when I got down on one knee and she said yes. And I feel unbelievably blessed that this May I will finally be able to marry her.

When I met Matt in 2017 he was head scribe in the emergency department (affectionately called “the Scribe King”) and I was a new nurse in the emergency department. As a nurse in the third busiest ER in the country, there wasn’t much time to get to know each other. Most of our interactions were surface level- from how was your weekend, where’s your attending, etc. Everyone loved Matt - to know Matt is to love him. He’s tall, handsome, friendly and extremely funny. We got to know each other more at work get togethers, post work happy hours and baseball games.
A few weeks after I got out of a long term relationship with my college boyfriend, Matt asked me to go to a comedy show. I accepted and wondered which of our friends would be joining us. When we got there it was just the two of us and I thought to myself “…is this a date?”. I was nervous. Matt then proceeded to order a plate of onion rings and ate them all, dissolving all thoughts this could potentially be a date. We got together a few more times and when Matt asked to be exclusive- I told him I wanted to keep it casual.
I then casually saw him every weekend and any chance I could for the next 5 years. And now I would like to casually invite you all to our wedding.
